This site is an academic site dedicated to the natives of theland between arabian sea-western ghats-north of southern sea -south of south Canara or Tulunaatu.malayaalan is the name used to reveal the identity of people living in the said area from 948 A D.Rajaditya chola in an inscription gives many names of officers from kerala who lived between thrikkunnappuzha and neduganaad(Achankoovilriver and Bhaarathappuzha)Now this researcher is engaged in the micro analysis of the problem Age of a village is a new concept based on Trippuliyuur Divyadesam ,a village well known to tamil vaishnavites even in 7th cA.D.In the village, prehistoric centralised stable settlement is identified. Thus the village has its settled life at least in 1100B.C.The village gradully had it's evolution to a vaishnava Temple Centred Village.By this time it shows its links to trikkunnappuzha ,nedunganaad, vaishnava centres of tmil areas beyond sahyadri as indicated by writings of alwars and Rajadithya Chola.By medieval period its relations are seen with Perumpatappu,Veenaatu ,Etc.The political relations are based on Economic status of the area. The pre- historic settlement reflects many kaavutattakams and gradual growth of economy based on devine market. This markets had relations to large areas in the hinterlands.Kantiyuurmarrom, trikkunrapozha Etc were large markets and port areas .Trikkunrappozha is suppoposed to be the Early SREEMUULAVAASAM-In this way by linking various factors Age and evolution of a village can be noted scientifically.

This has to be developd to AREA STUDIES as in Vaaniyamkulam study. This study started in 1997 by Vaaniyamkulam panchayath.By the year 2000 thework was finalised. It was published by KCHR Trivandrum.BUt the work done by the Panchayath or researchers were not properly acknoledged by them see the pictures and website for details.

Now the works on kaavuthattakams are progressing.A project on Regional history is now taken up. Micro to Macro and preparation of an Organic study bsaed on interdiciplinary approach is the only way to understand malayalahistory or

Methodological Change in Studies of kerala culture

This site is dedicated to all malayaalans. The word malayaalan means natives of the present geographical area west of western ghats/east of arabian sea /south of south canara/north of kanyaakumari inclusive of kanyakumari-Old kuttanaatu, kutanaatu, puulinaatu, ven naatu Etc -Malayaala identity. We are always talking of Keralam and keraliiyas. malayaalan nedukkalaayanaaTTu iisaanamangalathu maanavallan kannan and many others were officers of Raajaaditya chola in 948 A. D.The names indicate that malayaalans of Nedunganaatu, ndumpurayuurnaatu ,mankarai,( present NILA river valley areas -old kutanaatu)tirukkunrappulai, tirukkandiyur,(areas around Trikkunnappula in the present kaayamkulam areas-old vempolinaatu/otanaatu)and venaatu. Now it is very clear that natives of land between river NILA and Port trikkunnappula on the mouth of acchan koovil aar and in areas south of it in veenaatu ( Kollalam port where tarisappally existed )were settleled by malayaalans-the ancestors of us.A study of vaaniyam kulam area was taken up as first village study as a part of evolving a methodology to study malayaala raajya charitram( keralaculture is the common title used by all historians)because of this unique reference of malayaalan for the 1st time is malayaalan Netumkaalaayanaattu maanavallan kannankannan .Vaaniyam kulam vijnaaniiyam is the work done by I.Pioneering attempt Put forward and promoted byVAANIYAM KULAM PANCHAAYATH II.The peoples participation was effectively used by adopting a system by Sri P K Sivadas III.Scientific methodology was evolved and applied by Dr .N.M. Nampoothiri, as a case study of Bharathappula river valley under UGC Major Research Project Cultural Geography and Habitat of Bharathappula river valley .Thanks to SNGS College,Pattaambi and UGC. By this it was able to apply the theoretical basis filtered from Calicut Studies. The work was started in 1997,as seen in the picture Vazhiyatayaalangal .The starting was based on TOPONOMICAL ANALYSES of Calicut Taluk. Calicut studiesfocusses on Port study,Capital City study,Zamorins records study,Power structure of Zamorins of Calicut,Toponymical study to understand village culture (200 Villages of Calicut Taluk).A new methodology to study malayala culture evolved from Toponomical analyses is as follows: Geography>Resources>Habitation>Urbanisation>City/market/port/villagecentres/temples/shrines-Etc
